今回は、友人に「宗教画」というテーマで絵をお願いしていたので、その制作過程を撮影した。このテーマで絵をお願いした理由は、私は、絵を描く/写真を撮るという行為が「祈り」であると感じていて、それを写真に収めたかったから。
絵を描く/写真を撮るという行為は、自分の身近な大切な人、見ず知らずの遠くの誰か、そして此処にはいない「あなた」というそれぞれの存在と、内的に一致する働きであると思っている。
それは祈りとよく似ていて、例えば一度も会ったことのない人、そしてこれから先も会うことのないであろう人を愛したいのならば、それは祈りを通してしか成せないと思うから。しかしこれには物凄いエネルギーを要し、自ら諸共壊れていくような苦痛と同時に、心地よさがあるように感じる。
